Rohanna Jones
– Principal RAD RTS
Rohanna began ballet at the age of 5 and danced for over 15 years.
In 2006 she was accepted into the Tanya Pearson Academy, studying fulltime ballet under some of Australia’s most renowned ballet masters. However, after much consideration Rohanna decided to leave fulltime training to return to school to complete her HSC.
In 2008 Rohanna completed her advanced 2 examination with the Royal Academy of Dance, before going on to achieve her teachers’ certificate (CBTS) with the RAD in 2010.
Although ballet remains Rohanna's first love, she has also trained extensively in Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Musical Theatre, Drama and Singing.
Coming from a family of art, drama, and music teachers Rohanna was hesitant to follow the family trade, however after being sneakily coerced by her beloved ballet teacher Peta Gray she began teaching in her final year of school. 3 years later in 2011 the opportunity to purchase a school arose, and RJ Performing Arts was born.
Rohanna has dedicated the last 12 years to furthering her own teaching skills and strives to impart her love and knowledge of dance to the next generation of students, creating atmosphere rich with imagination, understanding, and creativity. She feels exceptionally lucky to be able to provide a safe and nurturing space for her dancers and loves watching them grow throughout their journey.
As Rohanna is about to welcome her second child, she is currently on leave from teaching, although still regularly popping into classes and managing the school. She is exceptionally proud of the team of current teachers who nurture and champion the students within the school.
